Advertising Policy

Current status: advertising is not active on Lumtrek. As of the last review, no Google AdSense code is installed on this website. There is no adsbygoogle script, no ca-pub publisher ID, no Google Ad Manager or AdMob tag, no other ad-network code, no affiliate tracking links, no sponsored posts, and no reserved or placeholder ad boxes anywhere on the site. Nothing on any page is being monetised. Lumtrek has not been approved for AdSense, and this page does not claim otherwise.

1. How that status was checked

Every HTML file, stylesheet and script in the published site was searched for the code signatures of advertising and tracking systems: adsbygoogle, pagead2.googlesyndication.com, ca-pub-, googletagmanager, gtag, google-analytics, and common third-party pixels. None were found. No analytics or measurement platform is installed either — Lumtrek currently collects no audience statistics of its own beyond whatever the hosting provider records to serve pages.

If you are reading this page on a deployment where advertising has since been switched on, this page should have been updated at the same time. If it has not, the discrepancy is an error — please report it through the contact page.

2. If advertising is introduced later

Lumtrek may apply to Google AdSense or another advertising programme in the future. If that happens, this page, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy will be revised before or at the same time as ads go live, so that what the documents say matches what the code actually does. The commitments below describe how advertising would be run.

3. Compliance commitments by policy area

The areas below follow the structure of Google's own publisher rules. The summaries are Lumtrek's undertakings; they are not a restatement of Google's policies, which are maintained by Google and can change at any time. The authoritative sources are linked in section 5.

Invalid clicks and impressions

Google requires that clicks and impressions come from genuine user interest, and prohibits a publisher from clicking their own ads for any reason, including testing. Lumtrek will not click its own ads, will not ask anyone else to click them, and will not use manual repetition, automated tools, scripts, bots or any other method to inflate clicks or impressions. Any ad-layout testing will use the publisher tools intended for that purpose rather than live ad units.

Encouraging or incentivising clicks

No page, image, arrow, label, heading or call to action will direct attention to an advertisement or invite interaction with one. There will be no "click the ads", "support us by clicking", "visit our sponsors" or equivalent wording anywhere on the site. No reward, payment, entry, unlock, download or other compensation will be offered to any reader or third party in exchange for viewing or clicking an ad.

Deceptive ad placement

Advertisements will be clearly labelled and visually separated from editorial content. Ads will not be styled to imitate article text, headings, tables, buttons or cards, and will not be placed immediately adjacent to interactive elements where a mis-tap becomes likely. No pop-ups, pop-unders, floating overlays, interstitials that block reading, or units that obscure content or shift the page as it loads. No ads inside images, next to individual images in a way that implies a relationship, or in positions designed to catch an accidental click.

Misleading navigation

No advertisement will be presented as, or placed to be mistaken for, site navigation, a menu, a search box, a download or play button, a form control, a "next page" link, a related-article link or an editorial recommendation. Real navigation will remain real navigation. Editorial links will point to editorial pages.

Traffic quality and sources

Traffic will come from ordinary sources: organic search, direct visits, shared links and referrals. Lumtrek will not buy traffic from paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, autosurf, click-exchange, incentivised-traffic or bot services; will not send unsolicited bulk email to drive visits; will not use toolbars, extensions, software installs or forced redirects to generate page views; and will not participate in schemes that artificially inflate traffic figures.

Content standards

Lumtrek publishes practical explanatory articles on technology, home and energy topics, everyday money concepts, productivity and buying decisions. It does not publish adult content, violent or shocking material, hate speech or harassment, content that promotes illegal activity or hacking, weapons or drug sales, malware or unwanted software, misrepresentative or deceptive content, or scraped and republished third-party articles. The Editorial Policy sets out how topics are chosen and reviewed.

User experience

Advertising would have to fit around the reading experience rather than the reverse: a limited number of units per page, no ad density that crowds out the article, nothing that pushes content down as it loads, nothing that interrupts scrolling or delays the page becoming readable, and no unit that plays sound or video automatically. If a placement measurably degrades the experience, the placement goes rather than the content.

Privacy, disclosure and consent

A publisher running Google ads must have a privacy policy that discloses the data collection, sharing and use that actually takes place, including the use of cookies and similar technologies by advertising partners. Lumtrek's Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy would be updated to describe the real configuration before ads are enabled.

Under Google's EU user consent policy, publishers serving ads to users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are required to use a Google-certified consent management platform that integrates with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework, and to obtain consent for cookies or other local storage where legally required and for the use of personal data for ad personalisation. Lumtrek would put a certified CMP in place before serving ads to those regions. Separate obligations may apply under Indian and other national data-protection law; those require their own assessment.

Affiliate links and sponsored content

None currently exist. If any are used later, the commercial relationship will be disclosed on the page where it appears, in a form a reader will actually notice. A commercial relationship will never determine an article's conclusion, and a page should remain useful if every commercial link were removed.

4. What will not change

Advertising revenue will not buy a recommendation, a ranking, a favourable comparison, the removal of a criticism, or a correction being quietly dropped. If a page cannot be written honestly while carrying an ad, the ad is the part that goes.

5. Verify the rules yourself

Google maintains its publisher rules and updates them regularly. Do not rely on this page, or any third-party summary, as a statement of what Google currently requires — check the source:

  • AdSense Program policies — invalid activity, encouraging clicks, traffic sources, site behaviour
  • Google Publisher Policies — content, misrepresentation and privacy-related policies
  • Google Publisher Restrictions — restricted content and behavioural restrictions
  • Google EU user consent policy — consent requirements for the EEA, UK and Switzerland
  • AdSense policy change log — what has changed and when

6. Questions

Questions about advertising on Lumtrek, or about a commercial relationship affecting a page, can be sent through the contact page.

Not legal advice. This page describes how Lumtrek intends to operate. It is not a legal opinion, and it does not guarantee that any future advertising implementation will satisfy Google's requirements or the law in a given jurisdiction. Both should be reviewed independently before ads are enabled.
