Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Lumtrek may receive when you visit the website and what it is used for. It describes the site as it is currently built: a static website with one contact form, no analytics platform, no advertising, and no newsletter. It also explains what would change if any of those were added later. We aim to collect only what is reasonably needed for the site to operate and communicate with readers.
What you give us
Your name, email address and message if you voluntarily use the contact form. That form is the only place the site asks you for anything.
What the web receives
Hosting, security and browser systems can process technical information needed to deliver pages and prevent abuse.
What we use it for
Responding to enquiries, keeping the site secure, understanding aggregate usage and improving the publication.
What changes over time
None of analytics, advertising, newsletters or embedded services are currently in use. Each would introduce additional processing and cookies, and this policy would be updated first.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Lumtrek website and its public pages, including articles, category pages, forms and downloadable or linked resources. It describes the website's practices as currently configured. It is not a substitute for legal advice about your particular circumstances.
2. Information you choose to provide
The contact form is the only channel Lumtrek operates; no public email address, telephone number or postal address is published. If you contact Lumtrek through that form, we receive the information you choose to send. This can include your name, email address, the subject of your message, a correction request, and the contents of your message.
Please do not send passwords, card numbers, authentication codes, government identity numbers, medical records or other highly sensitive information through an ordinary contact form unless a service specifically asks for it through a secure process.
3. Technical information collected during a visit
Web hosting and security services may process technical request information such as an IP address, browser or device characteristics, requested URL, referral information, date/time and basic error or security information. Much of this processing happens at the infrastructure level and is used to deliver pages, protect the site and diagnose reliability problems.
Lumtrek does not use the website as a tool to deliberately identify readers personally from ordinary browsing activity.
4. How information may be used
- To respond to questions, correction requests and other messages.
- To operate, maintain and secure the website.
- To detect spam, abuse, automated attacks and other harmful activity.
- To measure aggregate website usage when analytics are enabled.
- To send a newsletter when a reader has deliberately subscribed and the mailing service is enabled.
- To satisfy applicable legal obligations or respond to lawful requests.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Lumtrek does not currently set any cookies of its own, and no advertising or analytics cookies are used. If the site later uses analytics, advertising, embedded media, social widgets, forms or other services that rely on cookies or similar identifiers, those services may process additional information according to their own documentation and applicable consent requirements.
See the Cookie Policy for a fuller explanation.
6. Google AdSense and advertising
Lumtrek does not currently display Google AdSense ads. If Google AdSense is enabled in the future, Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to deliver, measure or limit advertising and to help manage fraud and abuse. Depending on the visitor's location, device, account settings and consent choices, advertising may be contextual or personalized.
Advertising providers operate under their own privacy notices. Visitors should review Google's current advertising and privacy documentation for the most accurate description of how those systems work at the time of use.
7. Analytics
Lumtrek does not currently use Google Analytics or any other analytics or measurement platform. No such code is present on the site. If an analytics platform is added in the future, it may collect aggregate information about pages viewed, navigation paths, approximate geography, device type, traffic source and other usage signals. Analytics configuration should be limited to legitimate measurement purposes and implemented with any consent mechanism required by the visitor's jurisdiction.
8. Contact forms and spam protection
The contact form is handled by Netlify Forms, the form feature of the site's hosting provider. Submissions are stored in the site's Netlify account and read there by the editor; Netlify processes and stores that data under its own terms and privacy documentation, on infrastructure it controls. The form includes a hidden honeypot field used to filter automated spam submissions.
Submissions are kept while they remain useful for answering the request or keeping a record of a correction, then deleted. There is no automated retention schedule and no fixed retention period: deletion is done manually. You can ask for a submission of yours to be deleted by sending that request through the same form.
9. Newsletter subscriptions
Lumtrek does not currently operate a newsletter and there is no subscription form on the site. Email addresses received through the contact form are not added to any mailing list. If newsletter delivery is enabled in the future and you subscribe, the email address you provide may be transferred to the mailing platform used by Lumtrek. The mailing platform will process that information under its own terms and privacy documentation. Subscription messages should include an unsubscribe mechanism where required.
10. Third-party links and embedded services
Articles may link to external sources for verification or further reading. Some future pages may also embed maps, videos, charts, social posts or other third-party content. An embedded service may receive technical information when your browser requests its content. Third-party services have their own policies, which Lumtrek does not control.
11. Data retention
Retention depends on the type of information and the reason it was collected. Contact messages may be retained long enough to handle the request and maintain a reasonable record. Security logs and infrastructure records are controlled partly by the hosting and security services that operate the website and may be retained according to their operational and legal requirements.
12. Data sharing
Lumtrek does not sell ordinary contact information simply because you visit the site. Information may be processed by service providers that help operate the website, such as hosting, security, forms, analytics, email delivery or advertising providers. Those providers receive information only as needed for the relevant service, subject to their own terms.
13. Security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect the website and information it handles. No internet service can promise absolute security. You should also use appropriate device security, unique passwords and caution when submitting information online.
14. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights such as asking what personal information is held, requesting correction or deletion, objecting to certain processing, or withdrawing consent where processing depends on consent.
Lumtrek will consider genuine privacy requests in accordance with applicable law. We may need enough information to verify that the request concerns the relevant person.
15. Children's privacy
Lumtrek is a general-audience information website and is not designed as a service for collecting personal information from children. Do not send personal information about a child through the contact form unless you are authorized to do so.
16. International processing
Hosting, analytics, advertising, forms and email providers may operate infrastructure in countries outside your own. Where the law requires safeguards for international data transfers, the relevant provider is responsible for implementing its applicable mechanism.
17. Policy changes
This policy may be updated when the website adds a new service, changes how information is handled, begins advertising or analytics, or needs to reflect legal requirements. Material changes should be reflected by updating the effective date on this page.
18. Contact and privacy questions
The contact form is the only route for privacy questions. For a privacy question, correction request or data-related enquiry, please use the Contact page. Include enough context for us to understand the request without sending unnecessary sensitive information.
